You’ll find here the list of the best 10 thrash metal albums of 2017, ranked from the bottom to the top. But in order to represent a wider picture of the state of thrash metal I’ve also prepared a mixtape for celebrating all the bands that made a valuable contribution to this genre of music. You have 2 hours of uninterrupted ride into thrash metal: 29 bands, 29 songs, one single flow of energy. And if you want to stay updated on the last news in thrash, at the end of the post you’ll find also the link to the Spotify playlist that I maintain and bring up-to-date with any new song which emerges from the mass. Have a nice listen and any comment is welcome!

It’s nice to start this chart with a debut album. From Antibes, France, this new quintet of metallers released on last March an interesting album where modern thrash is mixed with groovy and hardcore elements.  And since its publication on last March, Division & Disharmony , the new and first album by Swarm , has been often taken into consideration everytime a new metal compilations was going to be published on this blog, reflecting the extreme enjoyability of the songs contained in the LP.

I Am Legion , the new album from Witchery, may be summarized in a few words as a raw version of the precedent work, Infernal Majesty’s Service . The Swedish band has crafted with the years their unique version of blackened thrash, and  with the exception of a more immediate style and of an arrangement that is certainly more brutal and crude than in the past, the overall approach does not differ too much from the style of metal they have been playing so far.

Alestorm is a multi-national pirate metal band originally from Perth , Scotland. [3] Their music is characterised by a pirate theme , and as a result they have been dubbed a "pirate metal" band [4] [5] by many critics and their fanbase.

After signing to Napalm Records in 2007, their debut album Captain Morgan's Revenge , was released on 25 January 2008. [6] Black Sails at Midnight , the band's second album, was released on 27 May 2009. The band's third album, Back Through Time , was released on 3 June 2011. The fourth album from the band, Sunset on the Golden Age , was released in August 2014. [7] Their fifth and latest album No Grave But the Sea was released on 26 May 2017.

After being signed by Napalm Records, the band changed their name from Battleheart to Alestorm. Their debut album, Captain Morgan's Revenge , was released in early 2008. [10]

Into the Pandemonium is the third studio album by Swiss extreme metal band Celtic Frost , released in 1987. The album is more varied than other Celtic Frost's past LPs, with unlikely covers ( Wall of Voodoo 's " Mexican Radio "), emotionally charged love songs, the album's recurring industrial -influenced rhythmic songs of demons and destruction, traditional Frost-styled songs about dreams and fear, and a dark, classical piece with female vocals.

The album is vastly different from the band's previous work which cemented its late 1980s avant-garde metal term; it is also a departure from the style found on the band's previous albums, Morbid Tales and To Mega Therion that Celtic Frost had become known for. However, it does have the recurring symphonic elements found on previous albums. The album has a more classic heavy metal style within the songs with elements of industrial , classical , gothic rock and doom metal . Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic called it "one of the classic extreme metal albums of all time." [1]

The track "Rex Irae" is the opening part of Celtic Frost's requiem ; the third, concluding part of which, "Winter (Requiem, Chapter Three: Finale)" can be heard on 2006's Monotheist . The second part of the requiem was never released by the band.
