The history of robots has its origins on the ancient world . The modern concept began to be developed with the onset of the Industrial Revolution , which allowed the use of complex mechanics, and the subsequent introduction of electricity. This made it possible to power machines with small compact motors. In the early 20th century, the notion of a humanoid machine was developed. Today, one can envisage human-sized robots with the capacity for near-human thoughts and movement.

The first uses of modern robots were in factories as industrial robots – simple fixed machines capable of manufacturing tasks which allowed production with less need for human assistance. Digitally controlled industrial robots and robots using artificial intelligence have been built since the 2000s.

Concepts of artificial servants and companions date at least as far back as the ancient legends of Cadmus , who is said to have sown dragon teeth that turned into soldiers, and Pygmalion whose statue of Galatea came to life. Many ancient mythologies included artificial people, such as the talking mechanical handmaidens built by the Greek god Hephaestus ( Vulcan to the Romans) out of gold, [1] the clay golems of Jewish legend and clay giants of Norse legend. Chinese legend relates that in the 10th century BC, Yan Shi made an automaton resembling a human in an account from the Lie Zi text.

Who can forget visiting the super-fascinating “Chidiya-Ghar” during the childhood? It is an undeniable fact that kids love animals and zoo is a place that is adored by everyone. Almost every Delhiite has visited the National Zoological Park or “Zoo”, as we call it, at least once in a lifetime. Zoo is one of the most interesting picnic spots in the town and can be visited any time around the year.

Set up in the year 1959, the National Zoological Park is spread across 176 acres of land. It was built after the Indian Board for Wildlife felt the need of having a Zoo in the capital as recreational facility for the people. The park was formally inaugurated by Mr. Punjab Rao, Honorable Minister of the Government of India and was initially called the Delhi Zoo. It was in 1982 that the park was given National status and came to be known as The National Zoological Park. Many of the state governments and individuals expressed their delight by sending gifts of animals for the park.

The Zoo now provides shelter to almost 1,350 animals and birds of 130 species from around the world. It has a plethora of reptiles, mammal and birds belonging to countries like Africa, Australia, America apart from India. The place also houses a green island and a 16th Century citadel. The National Zoological Park is a place of heaven for the nature as well as animal lovers. On a stroll around the park one can see squirrels hopping around up and down the trees, the white-tiger roaring with authority, black-bucks hiding behind the trees, birds perching on the backs of the rhinos and several such amusing sights.

Ranthambhore National Park ( Hindi : रणथंभौर राष्ट्रीय उद्यान ) or Ranthambhore is the fortieth largest national park in northern India , covering 392 km². Ranthambhore was established as the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in 1955 by the Government of India and was declared one of the Project Tiger reserves in 1973. Ranthambhore became a national park in 1980. In 1984, the adjacent forests were declared the Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary , and in 1991 the tiger reserve was enlarged to include the Sawai Man Singh and Keladevi sanctuaries.

It is situated in the Sawai Madhopur district of southeastern Rajasthan , about 110 km northeast of Kota and 140 km southeast of Jaipur , which is also the nearest airport. The nearest town and railway station is at Sawai Madhopur , about 11 km away. The park is also close to the Kota railway station. RIDCOR operates a mega-highway between Kota and Ranthambhore. Ranthambhore National Park lies at the edge of a plateau and is bounded to the north by the Banas River and to the south by the Chambal River . It is named after the historic Ranthambhore fortress, which lies within the park.

Ranthambhore is best known for its large tiger population. As park tourism and the population of neighbouring villages increased, there were more frequent fatal human-tiger interactions and poaching. The Indian government started Project Tiger in 1973 and allotted an area of 60 mi 2 of the park as a tiger sanctuary. This area later expanded to become what is now the Ranthambhore National Park.
